Effect of measles on the Tuberculin Test

Abstract
The author, during the period of April to July 1970, at the Save the Children Fund Clinic in Pusan, performed routine Mantoux test using 5 TU of old tuberculin to 28 children of measlses ranging from 11 months to 4¨ö years of age who had been known to have positive tuberculin test and obwerved the effect of measles on the tuberculin reaction in infants and children.
1) The tuberculin test in all children was revealed negative within 5th day after the appearance of measles rash lasting until 15th day of the illness, Which gradually became positive since then resulting 86% until 36-40th day and 93% until 41-45th day showing repositive conversion in most cases.
2) There was no significant evidence that the negative reaction and the positive conversion of tuberculin test during mealses were related to age and sex, the degree of body temperature and the severity of measles rash.
